I drew this duchess and the baby as Kuzunoha 葛ノ葉 and Abe no Seimei 安部清明
Seimei was the most famous Onmyou-ji(a kind of priests) in the Heian era, and Kuzunoha was his mother.
She was actually a Kitsune (a fox) but turned into a figure of a lady, and married to Seimei's father Abe no Yasuna　安部保名.
So Seimei was teased when he was a little because of his origin, a half human and half fox.
Of course it was just a legend, and Kuzunoha's identity remains a mystery.
